And I have to admit, the thought of taking a two-minute drop straight from a jaguar’s mouth at Loco Waterpark already has me planning my first visit.

The mix of family-friendly fun, adrenaline-pumping thrills, and adults-only relaxation means this is a destination that truly has something for everyone. It’s clear Royal Caribbean has put serious thought into making this a game-changing destination.

Additional Fee to Be Added for Cruise Passengers Visiting Mexico

The Mexican government has announced a $5 visitor fee for cruise-ship passengers arriving at any Mexican port, effective July 1. This decision follows an agreement with the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), which represents 95% of cruise ships making stops in Mexico. Initially, the government proposed a $42 fee, but after extensive discussions and pushback from cruise operators, the amount was significantly reduced. Over the next three years, however, this fee will gradually increase to $21 per passenger.

According to Border Report, the visitor fee will be incorporated directly into the overall cost of the cruise, so passengers won’t need to pay the fee directly upon arrival. FCCA has expressed gratitude for the compromise, emphasizing how it supports cruise tourism while benefiting local communities reliant on this industry.

The FCCA has explained that Mexico expects around 3,300 cruise ships to dock at its ports this year, bringing an estimated 10 million passengers.

Cruise tourism has become a major source of income for many countries, especially those in the Caribbean and Latin America. These regions heavily rely on the revenue generated by cruise ships docking at their ports, as it boosts their economy and creates job opportunities for locals.

However, there have been concerns about the negative impact of cruise tourism on local communities and the environment.
