Royal Caribbean Announces Royal Beach Club Santorini

Greece, especially Santorini, has long been on my personal travel bucket list. Those whitewashed buildings, the deep blue domes, and the the island’s cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea. It’s the kind of place that feels timeless and sacred, somewhere you want to wander slowly with a camera in one hand and a glass of wine in the other.

So when Royal Caribbean announced plans for a brand new Royal Beach Club Santorini, set to open in summer 2026, my first reaction was mixed.

According to Royal Caribbean Group’s official press release, the new beach club will offer what they call “The Ultimate Santorini Day,” combining the island’s volcanic beaches and culture with the company’s signature experiences. Guests from both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises will have the chance to visit iconic spots like Oia and Fira before heading to the beach club for a relaxing, curated escape.

Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, described it as “a bold step forward in growing our vacation portfolio from two to eight by 2028.” The idea is that the Royal Beach Club Santorini will deliver a “balanced, authentic island experience” that connects guests to both the famous villages and the island’s beach culture.

Michael Bayley, Royal Caribbean’s CEO, added that the new destination will also help alleviate overcrowding on the island by distributing guests across multiple entry points. The goal is to reduce congestion while giving travelers more time to actually enjoy what makes Santorini special.

On one hand, we’ve seen the photos and read the reports. Santorini has been struggling with crowding for years. The island’s small infrastructure simply wasn’t built to handle the surge of cruise passengers it welcomes daily during the summer season. If Royal Caribbean’s plan really does help spread out those crowds and create a more sustainable way to experience the island, that’s a win for everyone.

But on the other hand, there’s a small part of us that worries this could change the very essence of what makes Santorini so magical. There’s something special about exploring the real island, wandering those narrow paths, discovering hidden tavernas, and soaking in the sunset from the caldera’s edge. A private beach club experience might be relaxing, but does it take away from the authenticity that travelers dream of when they picture Santorini? Or has that already been taken away by the cruise ships and crowds who have already been flocking there?

For repeat visitors, the beach club might actually be a welcome option, a peaceful way to enjoy the island’s beauty without the hustle and bustle of the main towns. But for first timers like me, who have had Santorini on their bucket list for years, I can’t help but wonder: will this make the experience better, or somehow cheapen one of the world’s most breathtaking destinations?

Royal Caribbean’s expansion of its beach club collection, from the upcoming Royal Beach Club Paradise Island to Cozumel, Lelepa, and beyond, shows just how much the line is leaning into land based experiences. It’s an exciting move for cruisers looking for new kinds of days ashore. But when it comes to Santorini, we’ll be watching closely to see if this addition enhances or alters the island’s magic.

What do you think? Would you spend your day in Santorini at a Royal Caribbean beach club, or venture out to explore the island yourself?

Hidden Gems of Bermuda Excursion Review

If you’re traveling to Bermuda and looking for an unforgettable adventure, the Hidden Gems of Bermuda excursion hosted by Hidden Gems of Bermuda LTD is one experience you don’t want to miss. My day with their team combined history, stunning natural beauty, unique activities, and vibrant local culture—all in an intimate small-group setting.

While the costs of any excursion can vary greatly depending on ship, time of year, promotions, etc., we paid $263.99 per person for this excursion in 2024 and felt it was well worth the costs. Lunch was also included in the price.

Highlights of the Excursion

One of the things I loved most about this tour was how well it showcased Bermuda’s charm across its various Parishes. Each stop delivered a memorable mix of activity, natural beauty, and cultural immersion that I wouldn’t have discovered on my own. From trekking through Bermuda’s only jungle to finding hidden caves and sampling authentic local food, the day felt like a perfect mix of exploration and relaxation.

Standout moments included cave swimming in a secluded pool similar in salt content to the Dead Sea, cliff jumping into crystalline waters, and enjoying a crowd-free beach toward the day’s end. Each activity presented a chance to soak up Bermuda’s natural beauty while stepping outside my comfort zone (in the best possible way).

The Journey Begins

The excursion kicked off with a scenic drive through Bermuda, where we learned fascinating stories about the island’s culture and history. Our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic about sharing what makes Bermuda so special.

Tom Moore’s Jungle & Cave Exploration

We hit the ground running (or rather hiking) with a trek through Tom Moore’s Jungle, Bermuda’s lush and only jungle. Along the way, our guide pointed out interesting native plants and animals. The real adventure kicked off when we donned hard hats and explored a secluded cave on foot. Dimly lit and geological in its beauty, it was like stepping into another world.

The next stop was a highlight for me—cave swimming in a natural underground pool. Floating in the salty water felt almost magical, with the stillness of the cave creating an atmosphere of pure serenity.

Blue Hole Cliff Jumping

Next up was Blue Hole Park, where those of us feeling brave had the chance to cliff jump into breathtaking blue waters. I initially planned to sit this one out, but with the encouragement of our guide and group, I gave it a try. Not only did I conquer my nerves, but I ended up trying jumps from both the 10-foot and 15-foot points. It’s an exhilarating experience that gives you adrenaline and memories you’re unlikely to forget!

Lunch Break

After the morning’s adventures, we refueled at a local restaurant, sampling Bermuda’s favorite flavors—including fresh fish, ginger beer, and banana ice cream. It was a delicious way to rest and recharge for the second half of the day.

Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve

The final stop landed us at Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve, arguably one of the most serene beaches I’ve visited. With little to no crowds, it was the perfect spot to unwind and reflect on the day.

Recommendations for Future Travelers

  • Don’t Miss Out

Book early! This tour is well-loved and has limited spots. Trust me—the personal, small-group experience is well worth securing your spot in advance.

  • Take the Leap

If any of the activities intimidate you (like cliff jumping), give yourself the freedom to try. I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone—it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the day.

  • Pack Smart

Bring essential items like closed-toe shoes for hiking, water shoes for the aquatic activities, bug spray (or longer clothing for the jungle), and a towel from your ship. You’ll also want to leave valuables behind in your stateroom for peace of mind.

  • Prepare Physically

While the tour offers alternatives for more strenuous activities, I recommend being ready for a day full of adventure and movement to fully enjoy the experience.

  • Tip Your Guide

The guides do an incredible job making the day fun, safe, and memorable. A well-deserved tip is the perfect way to thank them for their hard work.

Final Thoughts

The Hidden Gems of Bermuda excursion exceeded all my expectations. Its blend of adventure, stunning locations, and local culture made it one of the highlights of my trip. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker keen on cliff diving or someone who enjoys exploring in nature, this tour truly has something for everyone.

For those visiting Bermuda and seeking an authentic off-the-beaten-path experience, I wholeheartedly recommend this excursion. It’s not just a day of sightseeing—it’s a day filled with memories you’ll treasure forever.

Excursions Reviews Royal Caribbean

Why Labadee, Haiti Is Our Favorite Private Cruise Destination

When it comes to private cruise destinations, most cruise lines have their crown jewels. Royal Caribbean’s CocoCay dazzles with its brand-new water parks and activities, while Disney’s Castaway Cay repeatedly attracts cruisers with its magical charm. Yet, after exploring many top-tier private islands, one hidden gem consistently stands out for us—Royal Caribbean’s very first private destination, Labadee, Haiti.

Nestled on a lush peninsula along Haiti’s coastline, Labadee offers a mesmerizing combination of breathtaking beauty, cultural immersion, and unforgettable experiences. Here’s why this spectacular destination has claimed the top spot in our hearts.

A Slice of Paradise in Haiti

Labadee captivates visitors with its natural beauty. Imagine lush green hills sweeping down into crystal-clear waters, dramatic rock formations framing the cove, and historic architectural gems sprinkled across the island. The tropical backdrop makes Labadee feel otherworldly—far from your day-to-day grind.

What sets Labadee apart from other private destinations is its rich sense of place. Unlike other private cruise stops that might feel like self-contained theme parks, Labadee’s local artisans, performers, and natural landscapes ensure it retains a sense of authenticity.

Pro-Tip

Love handmade crafts? Don’t miss the Artisan Market. Here, local merchants offer beautiful, hand-carved pieces and paintings. Be prepared to haggle—it’s part of the fun—and make sure to bring cash for purchases.

Thrills for Adventurers

Looking for excitement? Labadee has unique activities guaranteed to get your adrenaline pumping.

  • Dragon’s Breath Zipline

At over 2,800 feet long, this exhilarating ride glides high above the ocean, offering unmatched aerial views of the coastline. With the sound of the ocean and wind rushing past you, this is an experience like no other.

  • Dragon’s Tail Coaster

Our personal favorite, this alpine coaster winds through the lush hills and offers stunning island and ship views. You control the speed, so thrill-seekers can go as fast as they dare, while anyone looking to enjoy the scenery can take it slow and steady.

Pro-Tip: Book the All-Day Dragon’s Tail Coaster Pass in advance. The earlier you reserve, the better, as it sells out quickly. Bonus—two people can share one pass (subject to weight limits), making it a steal!

Beaches for Every Style

Labadee isn’t short on sandy sanctuaries. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or family fun, there’s a beach for everyone.

  • Barefoot Beach – Exclusively for suite guests, this upscale retreat offers privacy and top-tier service.
  • Columbus Cove & Adrenaline Beach – These are great for families, with plenty of space to lounge or play.
  • Nellie’s Beach – A quieter, more secluded spot, perfect for anyone looking to unwind in a tranquil cove.
  • Dragon’s Beach – Conveniently located near the cruise dock, ideal for quick visits.

Pro-Tips

  • Arrive early to enjoy the best spots before the beaches get busy.
  • Check out a towel from the ship, and consider reserving a floating mat for ultimate relaxation. If you’re staying in a Grand Suite or higher, floating mats and towels are provided for free at Barefoot Beach.

Explore Nature Trails

Labadee isn’t just about beaches—it’s also home to beautiful nature trails. Take time to wander through the island’s paths and take in its tropical flora, local architecture, and scenic viewpoints.

Pro-Tip

Bring your camera or phone! The trails are filled with amazing photo opportunities, from panoramic views to lush greenery.

Savor the Island Cuisine

One of the highlights of Labadee is the food. While most private cruise destinations include dining, we’ve found the meals on Labadee to be some of the best. Enjoy delicious barbecue-style options with tropical flavors that perfectly match the island vibe.

Pro-Tip

Don’t skip the included meals—they’re hearty, flavorful, and feel like a great way to immerse yourself further in the experience.

Safety & Comfort

You may be wondering—how safe is Labadee? Rest assured, Royal Caribbean has taken every precaution to ensure your visit is as secure as it is enjoyable. The area is private and fully managed by Royal Caribbean, with medical assistance readily available and security personnel ensuring a safe experience for all guests.

Additionally, the locals who work in the Artisan Market or provide entertainment are welcoming and friendly. Though bargaining might take you slightly out of your comfort zone, most interactions add to the cultural depth of your visit and are conducted with a smile.

Why Labadee Stands Out

To us, Labadee isn’t just a stop on the itinerary—it’s an experience. Unlike the polished perfection found at newer private destinations, Labadee offers an authenticity and character that’s hard to replicate. With its perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and cultural flair, it’s a destination where every cruiser can feel they’ve discovered a little slice of paradise.

Next time you’re planning your cruise, consider an itinerary that includes Labadee, Haiti. Whether you’re ziplining over the ocean, lounging on a beach, or exploring the Artisan Market, one thing is certain—you’ll leave with unforgettable memories.

Disney Cruise Line Excursions Tips & Advice

10 Tips for Making the Most of Your Day at Disney’s Castaway Cay

Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, is the cherry on top of a magical Disney Cruise adventure. Located in the Bahamas, this tropical paradise has something for everyone—whether you’re looking to relax on soft sandy beaches, enjoy thrilling water activities, or immerse yourself in Disney’s signature touches.

To help you make the most of your day, here are 10 tips to ensure your time on Castaway Cay is as unforgettable as the rest of your Disney cruise.

1. Get an Early Start

Time flies on Castaway Cay, so plan to debark as soon as the ship allows passengers to disembark. By heading to the island early, you’ll snap up the best beach loungers, have shorter wait times for activities, and enjoy the serenity before it gets busier.

Pro Tip:

Breakfast is served on the ship before disembarkation. Fuel up so you’re energized for a full day of fun!

2. Pick the Right Beach for You

Castaway Cay offers three distinct beach areas to suit different preferences:

  • Family Beach (Scuttle’s Cove): Perfect for families with kids. Plenty of activities nearby, plus lifeguards for safety.
  • Serenity Bay: This adults-only retreat offers peace and quiet for those looking to relax without little ones nearby.
  • Teen Hideout: Specifically designed for teens to chill and hang out in their own space.

Choose the beach that best matches your vibe and group dynamic!

3. Book Activities in Advance

Popular activities like parasailing, snorkeling, and bike rentals can sell out quickly. Reserve your spots on the Disney Cruise Line app before you arrive! If you’re feeling adventurous, don’t miss the chance to explore the Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure, where you can feed and snorkel with friendly stingrays.

Pro Tip:

If you’re a runner, consider signing up for the Castaway Cay 5K. It’s free and comes with a medal to celebrate your achievement!

4. Rent a Private Cabana

Upgrade your day with a private cabana. These luxurious spaces offer shade, loungers, towels, sunscreen, and even a stocked fridge with beverages. Cabanas also come with a dedicated area of the beach, making them ideal if you’re craving privacy and exclusivity.

Heads Up:

Cabanas are in high demand, so book yours as early as possible.

5. Bring Your Snorkeling Gear

Castaway Cay’s snorkeling lagoon is a treasure trove of underwater magic. Disney added easter egg surprises, like Mickey and Minnie statues, for guests to discover below the surface. You can rent snorkeling gear, but bringing your own saves time and ensures a perfect fit.

Hot Tip:

Head to the lagoon early for clear water and fewer crowds.

6. Enjoy a Bike Ride Around the Island or Run/walk in the Free 5K

Hop on a bike and explore paved trails that lead to hidden gems like Observation Tower, where you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the island. It’s a fun way to see more than just the beaches and soak in Castaway Cay’s beauty.

The 5K is self-paced. You can start it at any time by visiting the Bike Rental booth near the beginning of the trail. When you are done, they will give you a 5K “medal”.

7. Treat Your Tastebuds

Your day on the island includes lunch, served at one of the island’s barbecue spots:

  • Cookies BBQ or Cookies Too (family-friendly)
  • Serenity Bay Barbecue (adults-only)

The menu includes BBQ staples like ribs, chicken, burgers, and sides, as well as kid-friendly options. Don’t forget to grab a refreshing soft-serve ice cream cone to cool off in the Bahamian sun!

8. Take Photos with Disney Characters

Castaway Cay is sprinkled with Mickey magic, including chances to meet Disney characters in tropical attire. These are exclusive to the island, so don’t miss the opportunity for unique photos! Spots are set up throughout the island, like near the Welcome Center and at Serenity Bay.

Pro Tip:

Go toward the end of the day for shorter lines, as many families head back to the ship early.

9. Relax with a Drink at the Bars

No tropical vacation is complete without a refreshing drink in hand. Enjoy signature cocktails or cold beers at island bars like The Sand Bar or Conched Out Bar. Adults can also visit Serenity Bay’s Bar for a quieter, more laid-back experience.

Insider Tip:

Ask for the Konk Kooler—Castaway Cay’s signature drink featuring a delightful mix of rum, passion fruit, and coconut.

10. Don’t Forget Souvenirs

Before heading back to the ship, stop by She Sells Sea Shells…and Everything Else for unique Castaway Cay merchandise that you won’t find anywhere else. Items like beachwear and exclusive Mickey-themed gear make for perfect keepsakes.

Fun Fact:

Your Key to the World card is the only payment method accepted on the island, so there’s no need to carry extra cash.

Plan Ahead for an Unforgettable Day

Your time on Castaway Cay is limited, so a little planning goes a long way. Whether you prefer to lounge by the turquoise waters, explore tropical trails, or enjoy exciting water sports, there’s something for everyone on Disney’s private island paradise.

Make the most of your time, soak in the magic, and create memories that will last long after the cruise returns to port.
